Hints for Playing Bejeweled Blitz

Playing Bejeweled Blitz on Facebook is a lot of fun and super, super addictive. If you either have time to kill or just want to sit down, relax and have fun – there’s really no better way then playing this game. The great thing is that you can compete against your friends and try to beat them and be on top of the high score list. You feel like you accomplished something and beating other people is a fun challenge.

To do that, you’re going to need some tips and some strategy so that you can easily start getting higher scores playing Bejeweled Blitz. I’ve compiled a list of the main hints, tricks, tips and secrets to help you get there along with a list of other resources that you will find helpful. You will find them here on this page.

I really hope that the tips listed here help you get a higher score. Again, it’s a really fun game to play and I happen to think that learning good strategies here can actually help you in other areas of your life – meaning, you’ll think in smarter ways about other things if you can master smart moves here.

You have two main goals when playing the game. The first one is to get multipliers and the second is to work fast. The sooner you can get a multiplier, the sooner it can start working for you. You really need to get one within about the first 15 seconds of the game, which is 1/4 of your time into the game.

After that, you want to get more and then, of course, work smart and fast by making the best moves possible.

You create multiplier gems when you do one gem match that removes at least 12 gems from the game board. Ok, that sounds easy – so how do you do that? There are a number of ways.

First you can earn multipliers when you do one gem match, that causes another, that causes another and so on. This is called a cascade. These more or less just happen by chance. You can work to play some gem cascades here and there but don’t rely on this method to get a multiplier

Second, create and detonate a star gem. You get star gems when you make a “T” or “L” shaped gem match. Blast one of those and you effectively remove 15 gems from the board in both the horizontal and vertical columns and rows and that gets you a multiplier.

The third way to get a multiplier is by forming and using a Hypercube. Hypercubes are made when you match 5 gems in a row or column. You then get to choose from the colors around it and by making a match with that color and all gems of that color on the board are destroyed. Be sure to choose a color that has at least 12 gems on the board and then you’ll get the multiplier that you so desperately need.

Besides that, you can save up coins and simply buy a multiplier gem boost at the beginning of the game. This is definitely a boost you want to buy.

Here’s another good tip. If you can (if you’re not goofing off at work), play with the sound on. The sounds that the game makes give you clues as to what is going on without you having to take your eyes off of what you’re doing.

For example, you’ll learn what the sound is when a multiplier is made and then you’re aware that it’s on the board. You can then concentrate on destroying that gem, which is the most important thing to do when one appears. Don’t wait to destroy multipliers – get rid of them as soon as you can so that you can start benefiting from them as soon as you can.

Again, what you need is speed, right? One great way to do that is just work the board in sections.

In your mind, split the board into 4 quadrants (top left, top right, bottom right, bottom left) and then move from quadrant to quadrant. There is usually a match to be made in each one. Make that match and then move on – don’t wait to see what happened… that wastes time.

If at all possible, work at the bottom of the board – so move from the bottom left to the bottom right quadrants only. What this does is give you a greater chance for a match to be made at the top or middle parts of the board automatically (a cascade). This really doesn’t happen if you’re only working at the top of board – so work at the bottom until there are no move moves there before you work your way up.

He is not talking about the Blitz version (Facebook version) of the game but the tips still basically apply. His first tip is to leave a match at the bottom of the game board and you do not need to do that. With the normal version of Bejeweled (not the Blitz version), you are not always given a gem match. You might run out of moves and, in that case, the game is over.
